The Notification Center is your work list in remberg. It shows you at a glance where something happened on your Tickets, Work Orders, Work Requests or Assets, and takes you straight to the right object with one click.

This article explains how to work with the Notification Center most efficiently and why it serves you better than your email inbox. For the basic functions, see the article Notification Center.

Why the Notification Center beats your inbox

The Notification Center always shows the current state, with only one entry per object and no duplicates. Your inbox, on the other hand, fills up with outdated individual emails that you have to sort yourself.

Email inbox

Notification Center

Up to date

An email is a snapshot. If the title or status changes afterwards, the email is out of date.

Each card shows the object's current title and status.

Volume

Every change is a new email. Ten updates on one Ticket mean ten emails.

There is one card per object. New activity updates it and moves it to the top.

Duplicate work

You read the same information in remberg and in your inbox.

Anything you have already read in the Notification Center is not sent to you by email as well.

Getting to work

Open the email, find the link, log in, find the object.

One click on the card takes you to the object. The location switches automatically, too.

Organization

You maintain folders and Outlook rules yourself.

Read/unread, remove and filters are built in.

Live

New information only arrives with the next email.

The count on the bell icon updates automatically, and so does the list while it is open.

Email still has its place: it alerts you when you are not in remberg. The actual work, however, happens in the Notification Center.

How the Notification Center is structured

Open the Notification Center via the bell icon in the navigation. The number on the bell icon shows your unread notifications; from 100 on, it shows "99+". The Notification Center opens as a side panel, so you can keep working next to it.

Each notification is a card. It shows:

  • An icon for the module, e.g. Ticket, Work Order or Work Request

  • The affected object with ID and title (e.g. "WO-000129 Pump maintenance") and its status badge

  • The type of notification, e.g. "Assigned to you" or "New note"

  • A relative timestamp showing when it happened

  • A blue dot as long as the notification is unread

One card per object

When something new happens on an object, you do not get a second card. The existing card is updated, marked as unread again and moved to the top. If several things happen at the same time, the card shows the most important one: an assignment to you, for example, takes priority over a status change.

Notes and mentions get their own card so you don't miss them.

If someone changes an object's title or status, the card adjusts automatically, so you always see the current state.

Your actions

Each card offers three actions: open, mark as read/unread, and remove. Two more actions for all cards at once are available via the settings icon (sliders) in the Notification Center's header.

Action

Where

What happens

Open card

Click the card

You go straight to the object. The card is automatically marked as read.

Read / Unread

Icon on the card or three-dot menu (⋮)

Switches the status without opening the object. Unread works well as a reminder: "I still need to deal with this."

Remove

Trash icon on the card or three-dot menu (⋮)

The card disappears from the Notification Center.

Undo

Message at the bottom after removing

Clicking "… was removed. Click to undo." brings the card back.

Mark all as read

Settings icon (sliders)

All cards are marked as read; none are deleted.

Remove all read

Settings icon (sliders)

All read cards disappear; unread ones stay.

💡 Notes:

  • If you remove a card and something happens on the object later, you get a new card.

  • "Remove all read" cannot be undone. Before using it, mark anything you want to keep as unread.

View: unread only or everything

Use the Show read toggle under the settings icon (sliders) to choose what you see:

  • Off: You only see unread cards. This is your to-do list.

  • On: You also see read cards, e.g. to look something up.

remberg remembers your choice, so you don't have to set it every time. Older cards load automatically as you scroll, and the newest ones are always at the top.

Settings: what you receive and how often by email

You find the settings under My User Profile → Notifications, or directly in the Notification Center via the settings icon (sliders) and Go to settings.

  1. Choose what you are notified about. For each module, you turn individual notifications on or off, e.g. status changes on Tickets. Anything you turn off here appears neither in the Notification Center nor by email. For a detailed list of all notifications, see the article Overview of notification settings.

  2. Choose whether and how often you receive emails. The Email notifications toggle decides whether you are also notified by email. Under Email frequency, you set how often remberg bundles and sends your notifications:

Option

When is the email sent?

Good for

Immediately

Every 2 minutes

Users who need to react quickly, e.g. to new Work Requests

20 minutes

Every 20 minutes

Users who want timely updates without constant interruptions

Hourly

On the hour

Users who mostly work in the Notification Center and use email as a reminder

Daily

Every day at 3 pm

Users who want an afternoon summary

The email only contains notifications that you have not yet read or removed in the Notification Center. The more you handle in the Notification Center, the fewer emails you receive.

Best practice: how to work with the Notification Center

The basic rule: Unread means open, read means done. You touch each notification once and then either handle it or clear it, instead of letting it pile up like in an inbox.

Your daily routine

  1. Open the Notification Center and hide read cards. You only see what is still open.

  2. Decide on each card once:

    • Quick to do? Open the card and handle it right away. It is marked as read automatically.

    • Just for information? Mark it as read or remove it.

    • Need to come back to it? Leave it unread or mark it as unread again.

  3. Daily goal: zero on the bell icon. Then you haven't missed anything.

  4. Clean up once a day. Remove all read keeps the list lean.

Less noise, more relevance

  • Turn off what you never need. Any notification you always remove without reading should be turned off in the settings.

  • Follow objects selectively. Use the bell icon on an object's detail page to follow or unfollow it. That way you only get updates on what concerns you.

  • Adjust the email frequency. If you are in remberg throughout the day, Hourly or Daily is enough, since you have the Notification Center open anyway.

  • Keep the Notification Center open while you work. It is a side panel, so you can keep working in the Ticket or Work Order list.

Tips for teams and admins

  • Assign people directly. When a person is assigned, only they receive the assignment notification, not the whole group.

  • Keep User Groups small and relevant. A group that includes everyone notifies everyone. Regularly check who is in which group.

  • Use @mentions for targeted information. A mention in a note lands as a separate card with exactly the person who needs to know.

  • Use "Automatically follow when my group is assigned" deliberately. It is only worth it if you really need every update on your group's objects.

FAQ

Do I get notifications for my own changes? No. Changes you make yourself do not appear in your Notification Center.

Why didn't I get an email for a notification? Either you already read or removed it in the Notification Center before the email went out, or the Email notifications toggle is off.

Can I restore a removed card? Yes, right after removing it, via the "Click to undo" message. After that, it is gone. If something happens on the object again, you get a new card.

Can an admin define the settings for all users? No. Each user sets up their own notifications.
