If you do not want to attach QR Codes in the remberg design to your assets and (optionally) want to avoid the printed, direct QR Code URL containing “remberg” (https://<domain>.app.remberg.de), we can provide you with the content you should use to implement your own QR Code design.
Below you will find all the information you need to create QR Code labels in your own design.
1. Provision QR Code IDs
Please send us the required number of QR Code IDs. One QR code ID is assigned per QR code label (corresponds to one asset). For example, if you have 100 thousand assets in the field, we can send you 100 thousand QR Code IDs. QR Code IDs consist of 16 characters (numbers and letters) and should be applied to a QR code label in the following format:
XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
We will send you the number of QR code IDs you specify in digital list form (e.g. CSV file).
QR Code ID (provided by remberg) | QR-Code URL (provided by remberg) |
834990328238 | app.remberg.de/qrcode/ 834990328238 |
923809348933 | app.remberg.de/qrcode/ 923809348933 |
... | ... |
2.1 Optional: Setting up a website subdomain for QR Code IDs
Select a website subdomain.
For example, we recommend the format https://qrcode.<yourwebsite>.com/
If your company website is acme.com, for example, you should set up a subdomain in the following format: qrcode.acme.com
This subdomain will later be displayed on the QR Code label and is used for forwarding to the respective asset in the remberg system.
Set up the website subdomain forwarding.
To set up the forwarding of the subdomain to your remberg (domain.app.remberg.de), set up HTTP web forwarding. To do this, you must set up a redirect on your server with the HTTP code 301 or 302, for example.
If you let us know which web server you are using, we can provide you with more detailed information on how this HTTP web forwarding can be implemented.
Note: Please note that a CNAME DNS entry is only an alias and is not a redirect. A CNAME entry is therefore not sufficient for this use case.
2.2 Optional: Expand the list of QR Code IDs with an additional column
Expand the list of QR Code IDs with an additional column “Your QR Code URL” in which you merge QR Code IDs with their new subdomain. In the future, this new URL will refer to a unique asset in your remberg:
QR Code ID
(provided by remberg) | remberg QR Code URL (provided by remberg) | Your new subdomain (provided by you) | Your QR Code URL
(aggregated by you) |
834990328238 | app.remberg.de/qrcode/ 834990328238 | qrcode.organization.com | qrcode.organization.com/qrcode/834990328238 |
923809348933 | app.remberg.de/qrcode/ 923809348933 | qrcode.organization.com | qrcode.organization.com/qrcode/923809348933 |
... | ... | ... | ... |
3. Designing the QR Code labels
You now have the technical information and functions you need to design your QR Code label. To create the label, we recommend using the data points that you see in the standard QR Code here. For technical functionality, you should display at least the following content on the label:
QR code ID: According to the scheme XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
QR Code URL: According to the above scheme (app.remberg.de/qrcode/923809348933 or qrcode.firma.com/qrcode/923809348933). This URL can be typed in manually if a person does not have a QR code scanner on their mobile device
Visual QR Code: You generate this by converting the QR Code URL into a visual QR Code, e.g. with the following programs:
Single QR code generator: https://qr-creator.com/url.php
Batch QR code generator: https://qrcoderw.com/batch_qr_generator.php
Paid offer with more functionality: https://qrbatch.scanova.io/
Now use this and other information you have defined, such as logos, titles, etc., to create your design. your design. Please note the following points:
The size of your label should fit the majority of your assets
The language of your QR Code labels should be adapted to your business area. If necessary, opt for an international language or create designs in different languages.
The material of your labels should be chosen so that they last as long as possible (similar to the rating plate).
If you want to combine your QR Code and the rating plate, take this into account when designing the new label.
Take into account what equipment you already have in-house to print the QR Code.
Make sure there is sufficient contrast between the QR code and the background to ensure successful scanning.
4. Printing the QR Code labels
Produce or print your QR code labels or place an order for production.
5. Distributing the QR Code labels
Distribute your QR Code labels to your employees for attachment to your assets. The following branches are particularly suitable for this:
Production: For example, during or shortly after type plate attachment to ensure that all new assets are provided with a QR Code
Outgoing goods: As the last possible time to ensure that all new assets are linked with a QR Code
Field service: Equip your field service with QR Code labels to add a QR Code to existing assets in the field.
Maintenance: If you have in-house maintenance, plan a tour during which you label all objects with a QR Code
6. Assigning QR codes to assets
The assignment process can be carried out in two ways:
By scanning a QR Code that has not yet been assigned.
Here, the software guides you through the process by selecting the appropriate asset for the scanned QR Code.
By selecting the QR Code ID on the asset details page in your remberg system. To do this, carry out the following steps:
Click on “Assets” in the main menu on the left-hand side
Select the desired asset
Optional: Open the sidebar on the right for the Associations
Click on “+ Add” at the bottom of the QR codes area
Select “Assign Existing”
In the pop-up window that opens, click on the correct ID in the selection field
Confirm by clicking on “Assign”
