The remberg mobile app works even without an internet connection. There's nothing to turn on and nothing to prepare: your input is saved to your device first and transmitted automatically as soon as you're back online.

What works offline?

After you log in, the app downloads all data you have access to onto your device. From then on, you can — even without a connection:

  • View and search Assets, Work Orders, and Work Requests

  • Fill out Procedures and mark them as complete

  • Start and stop time tracking with the stopwatch, or enter time manually

  • Record spare parts withdrawals

  • Write and edit notes

  • Create, approve, and reject Work Requests

  • Create and edit Work Orders

  • Attach photos and videos

  • Scan QR codes

The remberg web application in your browser is not available offline — that requires a connection.

💡 Note: The remberg web application and the mobile app are two different things. Offline mode applies only to the app from the App Store or Play Store.

How syncing works

The app syncs in both directions, both automatically in the background.

Downloading: Changes made by your colleagues arrive on your device with every sync — for example, a newly assigned Work Order or an updated Procedure template.

Uploading: Every change you make is saved individually and transmitted in the order you made it. The server validates each change exactly as if you'd made it on desktop: permissions, required fields, status.

💡 Note: If you're about to enter an area without reception, sync once while you still have a connection, right before your shift starts. That way you have the latest state of your Work Orders with you.

Syncing Progress: see what's still open

Under Settings > Sync & Storage > Syncing Progress, you can see everything that hasn't reached the server yet, and everything that couldn't be transmitted. Anything that synced successfully is not listed there — the list is deliberately short and shows only what's still open.

Tap an entry to see the details.

When a change can't be transmitted

Your change isn't lost. You get an immediate notice with the reason and can choose right away: Discard takes the change back, Acknowledge lets you review it later. Until then, it stays on your device and appears under Settings > Sync & Storage > Syncing Progress. The most common reasons:

  • Someone else changed the object after you did. The classic case: you were working offline, and in the meantime a planner changed the same Work Order. remberg doesn't automatically overwrite the newer version — it puts the decision in your hands.

  • You're missing the permission — for example, a status change that only the responsible person is allowed to make.

  • A rule applies — for example, a Work Order that has since been closed, or a withdrawal quantity that exceeds stock.

Tap a failed entry in the list to see its details. Reset to Pending queues the change to be transmitted again — useful once you've reviewed the current state and identified the cause. Discarded changes are documented and traceable.

💡 Note: When there's a conflict, check the object itself first. Often a colleague has already logged the work — in that case, discarding is the right call.

When two people work on the same Work Order

This is explicitly supported, even if one person is offline. Time entries, notes, and spare parts withdrawals are separate entries that add up — they don't overwrite each other. The Work Order isn't locked for others while you work on it offline.

There are two limits:

  • Each person can only run one stopwatch at a time.

  • Procedures of the type safety check and validation exist only once per Work Order. If two people fill out the same Procedure in parallel, the second entry doesn't win — the later change is rejected as a conflict.

FAQ

Do I need to turn on offline mode? No. It's always active.

How do I know everything has been transmitted? Syncing Progress shows no open entries left. There's deliberately no success message per entry.

How long can I work offline? There's no time limit. The longer the offline period, the higher the chance that an object was also changed on desktop in the meantime, which can cause a conflict.

Can I lose data if I close the app? No. Your input is saved locally and continues to be transmitted after you restart the app.

What happens if my input runs into a conflict? It's neither applied nor deleted — it appears under Syncing Progress. You decide whether to reset it to pending or discard it.

Can I create Work Orders in the app? Yes, even offline. The Work Order is created locally and transmitted with the next sync.

Are photos and videos saved offline too? Yes. They're transmitted together with the related change as soon as you're back online. Large attachments take longer.

Why do I see a Work Order on desktop but not in the app? Either the device was offline when the Work Order was assigned — in which case it will arrive with the next sync — or it's outside your permissions.
